Roof trusses for barn conversion

Our client in Somerset needed to span a converted barn building to create an open-plan living space without using unsightly columns that intruded into the living room.

The roof beams needed to be as small as possible due to planning restrictions for the height of the new build.

The solution was a tied portal roof construction which eliminated the need for centre columns and kept the roof height within planning constraints.
